Guntur city has been known as the seat of learning in A.P. and students come to Guntur here from various villages to pursue their higher studies. To facilitate their stay and study  ‘kamma Hostel for boys was established in the year 1919 at Arundelpet, Guntur with the help of philanthropists  and donors.  Thousands of students benefited by this facility and several of them are now highly placed across the globe. Having been inspired by the successful conduct of the boys hostel, a meeting was convened on 23-04-1978 which was presided over by Sri Vasireddy Venkaiah and attended by 215 others to explore the possibility of establishing a hostel for girls and thereby encouraging   girl education. The meeting unanimously resolved to take up construction of a hostel for girls. ‘Kamma Jana Seva Samithi’ came to existence and the samithi was registered with Sri Valiveti Narasimha Rao as its president. One acre Land was acquired for this purpose and it was leveled  with the help of Lorry Owners Association. There hasn’t been much progress after that due to various reasons. It was only in 1990 that the land could be finally registered.


Sri Ghanta Punna Rao donated Rs.2,50,000/- for the construction of a library and a reading rooms. Later, the Guntur Municipal Corporation built a library and reading room in their site that is quite opposite to our site. Then it was decided to use to as a hostel for girls. With Sri Ghanta Punnaiah Choudary becoming president and with the active cooperation of other members of the samithi developmental activity has been speeded up. The family members of the president – Sri Ghanta Udaya Lakshmi, Smt.Sujatha and Smt.Meka Anasuyamma set members as examples and generously donated Rs.2,50,000/-. Sri Paruchuri Venkata Rao & Smt.Devabhaktani Basava rao and Smt.Aruna, Sri Vankayalapati  Balaramakrishnaiah & Smt.Sitaravamma donated Rs.1,00,000/- each. Membership  fees an donations also founed in fructifying the long dream the Kalyana Mandapam and Dr.Vineeth Choudary Kala Vedika have been built..
